It’s worse than we thought.
While dirty, demented grandpa Donald, increasingly unhinged, keeps failing asleep and then waking up and indulging in bouts of incoherent ranting, he has already accomplished what his minders always intended: to bring together the two most twisted, delusional, genocidal, pseudo-religious movements in modern history — Zionism and Christian Zionism — and to launch an apocalyptic war on their behalf.
Donald Trump, of course, as a malignant narcissist, has no God but himself, and the same is true of his chief Zionist manipulator, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, a slippery devil of a being who has dominated Israeli politics for much of the last 40 years, and who has, over the last 29 months, finally emerged in his true colours, as the bearer of nothing but mass murder and destruction without restraint.
Using the Palestinian resistance movement’s attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023 as an excuse, Netanyahu, leading a political establishment and a population that are almost entirely supportive of his bleak vision, has drawn on violent Iron Age religious texts to finally manifest the true apocalyptic intent of the genocidal Zionist settler-colonial cult whose first victory was the blood-soaked establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.
Apocalyptic Zionism
Apocalyptic Zionism is, nominally, at war with the people who, as the State of Israel sees it, dared — and still dare — to live on what its adherents regard as their own land, drawing on absurd scriptural claims from 3,000 years ago.
For 75 years, the Zionist entity largely focused on the dispossession, oppression and cruel imprisonment of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, but October 7 gave Israel the excuse to finally revive the full apocalyptic fervour of the nation’s founding, launching the most sickening live-streamed genocide in the Gaza Strip, and stepping up its systemic and brutal violence against Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Having been indulged by the west since its founding — largely based on western guilt about the Nazi Holocaust, and their own countries’ long histories of persecuting Jews — the State of Israel used October 7 not only to seek the extermination of the Palestinian people, but also to expand its wider ambitions, sporadically played out in the intervening decades, primarily through its repeated hostility towards Lebanon.
Israel’s relentless expansionist aims are nothing less than the realization of the originally Zionist settlers’ notion that, beyond Palestine, the genocidal ghosts of the past had promised them a “Greater Israel”, as embraced by Zionism’s founder, Theodor Herzl, stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates, and encompassing the whole of Lebanon and Jordan, along with significant parts of Syria, Iraq, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

While conquest remains a part of Israel’s current obsession with the vision of a “Greater Israel”, as demonstrated through Israel’s repeatedly violent incursions and attacks, over the last two years, on Lebanese territory in particular, but also in Syria, it would be fair to say that apocalyptic destruction rather than conquest is the main driver of Netanyahu’s increasingly unhinged obsession with eliminating anyone who, as he sees it, poses a threat to Israel’s security and stability.
It should hardly need mentioning that Netanyahu forgets, as always, that war never brings peace, and that the only route to Israeli security has always involved what it cannot tolerate: accepting the Palestinians’ right to their land, and establishing, as has always been eminently possible, a route to peaceful co-existence.
Instead, however, for 40 years, by his own confession, Netanyahu has been consumed by a hunger not only to destroy the Palestinians and any neighbours who refuse to bow in obeisance to Israel, but also to take out the main supporter of those who refuse to be silent and docile in their subjugation — the Islamic Republic of Iran, outside the parameters of “Greater Israel”, but regarded as the lynchpin of the resistance to Israel’s “destiny”, as a supporter of many of the regional resistance movements that have obstinately refused to allow Israel to fulfil its dream of total subjugation without resistance.
While Israel has spent decades pouring resources into two particular fields to defend itself — the manufacture of weapons and the development of cutting-edge modern weapons technology, including, most recently, horrific AI programs that generate targets autonomously, and the creation of intelligence services devoted to colossal spying operations, which, it seems, also involve the blackmail of potentially incalcitrant foreign leaders — it would be fair to say that its remorseless journey towards becoming a nation that lives only to engage in the genocidal slaughter of its perceived enemies also remains hugely dependant on the largesse of the United States.
The US routinely supplies roughly two-thirds of Israel’s weapons, and has spent decades shielding it from accountability in the United Nations — and latterly, in the International Criminal Court, after arrest warrants were issued for Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Moreover, US presidents have all been obliged, one way or another, to bend the knee to Israel and to put its priorities above their own, as became horrifically evident when Joe Biden, a self-proclaimed Zionist, promised and delivered “ironclad” support for the last half of his presidency, even as evidence of unconscionable genocidal activity on Israel’s part became more and more evident.
Now, however, under Trump, an even darker base of support for Israel has emerged, and is actively committed to an apocalyptic war.
The apocalyptic horrors of Christian Zionism
That base of support comes from Christian Zionism, a ludicrous but potentially life-ending warping of Christianity, massively popular amongst the so-called “Christian right” in the US — which is itself, of course, a contradiction in terms, as Jesus was very evidently not a right-winger.
Christian Zionists believe that the founding of the State of Israel in 1948 is a critical component of biblical prophecies in the Old Testament, which indicate that the re-establishment of Jewish sovereignty in Palestine and the wider Levant region is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
Like many other people, I suspect, I’ve known about Christian Zionism for many years, but found its premise about the second coming of Christ so mind-bending that I had failed to appreciate the extent to which its fanatical adherents in the uniquely broken spiritual and psychic landscape of the US were taking it seriously.
However, since Trump took office for the second time just over a year ago, the proximity of these fanatics to the seat of US power has become ever more evident — via the prayer meetings at the White House in which adherents of the apocalyptic fantasy lay hands on Trump as though he himself were the Second Coming of Christ, and, more recently, via the delusional confessions of Mike Huckabee, the dim-witted US Ambassador to Israel.

In a forensic hatchet job by the US’s most prominent investigative skeptic, Tucker Carlson, Huckabee openly identified with Israel above the US, was unable to answer questions about how and why European settlers could claim that they had a “right” to Palestinian land, and, most crucially, claimed that Israel has a “right” to the whole of “Greater Israel”, from the Nile to the Euphrates. “It would be fine if [Israel] took it all,” Huckabee said, precipitating a global chorus of outrage that he apparently failed to even comprehend.
With the launch of the joint US-Israeli “war” on Iran, the Christian Zionists seem finally to have fully captured the White House. As Trump sleeps, waking only to look increasingly confused, and to declare, with ever-increasing implausibility, that the US has a boundless supply of weapons (which it evidently doesn’t), and toothlessly calling for Iran’s “unconditional surrender”, Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense (now reimagined as the Secretary of War), “has turned the Pentagon into something resembling a church”, as Mondoweiss described it in a post on March 6, where he “hosts Christian prayer services during work hours”, and “sponsors a weekly Bible study whose leader teaches that God blesses Israel’s allies and curses its enemies.”
The unique depravity of Pete Hegseth
In what he clearly sees as a “holy war”, Hegseth — the Trump sycophant, all-round dissolute human being, and former Fox TV host with no previous experience of military command, whose mother disowned him in 2018 as “an abuser of women” — has sickeningly eviscerated any notion of appropriate or proportionate wartime conduct in official statements. At a press conference on March 2, for example, he sought to claim that Iran has been at war with the US since the revolution in 1979, and that anyone who even threatens Americans is a valid target for extermination.
“For 47 long years, the expansionist and Islamist regime in Tehran has waged a savage, one-sided war against America”, he said, adding that, “If you kill Americans, if you threaten Americans anywhere on Earth, we will hunt you down without apology and without hesitation and we will kill you.”
Two days later, he gleefully promised “death and destruction from the sky all day long”, bragging that “Our rules of engagement are bold, precise and designed to unleash American power, not shackle it. This was never meant to be a fair fight, and it is not a fair fight. We are punching them while they’re down, which is exactly how it should be.”
Interviewed on “60 Minutes” on March 7, Hegseth plumbed even greater depths of depravity, saying, of the Iran people, that “The only ones who need to be worried right now are Iranians who think they’re going to live”, which, as I noted at the time, appeared to show him “promising the genocidal extermination of the entire Iranian people, akin to the genocidal intent displayed by Israeli leaders after Oct. 7 towards the entire population of Gaza.”

Hegseth is not alone in his apocalyptic genocidal fury. Trump’s personal spiritual adviser Paula White-Cain, a deranged fanatic who runs the White House Faith Office and organizes the shameful gatherings where the “faithful” gather to lay hands on Trump and treat him as a 21st century messiah, and not a confirmed racist and malignant narcissist with galloping dementia, “has publicly declared that ‘to say no to Trump is to say no to God’, claimed demonic forces stole the 2020 election, and is militantly pro-Israel”, as Mondoweiss described it, also pointing out that a conservative journalist, Pedro L. Gonzalez, recently described her as a “psychopath doomsday cultist.”
Moreover, since the US-Israeli bombing of Iran began, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has received over 200 complaints, from troops across every branch of the military, at over 50 military installations, stating that their commanders are also caught up in this pseudo-religious genocidal fervour, and have been telling them the war is “biblically sanctioned” and that Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.”
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse
So here’s where we are. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, as portended in Jewish and Christian scriptures, have finally manifested on earth: the Horseman of Conquest, the ailing, flatulent life-hater Donald Trump, whose mount is actually a golf cart; the Horseman of War, the dismal cosplaying fake warrior Pete Hegseth, who is monstrously aroused by openly talking about the extermination of an entire people; the Horseman of Famine, which is actually the entire world of extractive capitalism dressed in a suit and riding a petrol-powered metal horse which is stuck in a gas station forecourt because the oil supplies have run out; and the Horseman of Death, Benjamin Netanyahu, whose rage at life itself is so all-consuming that he, more than anyone who has wielded power in our lifetimes, may burn the world down before acknowledging that he is the manifestation of a sickness and pestilence on the face of the earth on a scale that is unprecedented in most of our lifetimes.
The only good news is that, of these four bleak visions of the apocalypse, the most dominant, although the others don’t realize it, is the Horseman of Famine, as the unintended consequences of this apocalyptic war spill out across the entire region, and, from there, around the whole world, collapsing the global economy through massive disruption to the production of, and distribution of the fossil fuels on which the entire edifice of global civilization depends.
Will the world put up with this, or can some way be found to avert catastrophe, and to rein in the three forces — Trump, the Zionists and the Christian Zionists — who now, in an unprecedented manifestation of extreme evil, exist solely to rain down apocalyptic genocidal extermination not only on Iran and the rest of the Middle East, but on the whole world?

When I posted this on Facebook, I wrote:
As the illegal US-Israeli “war” on Iran continues, with, last night, horrific attacks on Tehran’s oil refineries that enveloped the city in a toxic, apocalyptic black fossil fuel cloud, I examine what has led to this point: the grotesque convergence of the two most malignant ideologies in the world today — Zionism, under the exterminatory leadership of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Christian Zionism, its absurd but deadly offshoot in the US, whose adherents believe that the re-establishment of Jewish sovereignty in Palestine and the wider Levant region is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
In prayer meetings in the White House, Christian Zionists lay hands on Trump and worship him as though he is Christ reborn, but while the godless Trump gave the go-ahead for the US to join Israel in its deadly crusade, he is growing noticeably more incoherent, and it is Pete Hegseth, the woefully unqualified Secretary of Defense (rebranded as the Secretary of War), who has become the more prominent face of the “war”, embracing Christian Zionism, and delivering grotesquely vile and violent speeches at press conferences, enthusing about the genocidal slaughter of the entire Iranian people.
Can anyone rein in these dark forces before they collapse the global economy, through the massive disruption to the production of, and distribution of the fossil fuels on which the entire edifice of global civilization depends, or are we witnessing an unprecedented manifestation of extreme evil, which, between Trump, the Zionists and the Christian Zionists, now exists solely to rain down apocalyptic genocidal extermination not only on Iran and the rest of the Middle East, but on the whole world?

Yes, I’ve never seen so much concentrated nihilistic power before, Damien. Mass genocidal extermination as an end in itself; nothing else. What our leaders get for having tolerated, or even assisted what happened in Gaza for the last 29 months.

Good to hear from you, Denise. Seeing those black toxic clouds over Tehran today was horrifically apocalyptic, but maybe there’s hope that the collapse of the gloabl economy will prompt people with enough power and influence to act.

No surprise here, really, but interesting to hear that four Trump administration officials, briefed on the attacks on Iran, and speaking anonymously to The Intercept, said that the Trump administration has “no plans” for what it’s doing:
“The administration doesn’t have a clue. They do not have an actual, real rationale, endgame, or plan for the aftermath of this”, one of the officials said..
“There is no thought process into what any of this means long term”, said another. “It’s not coordinated regime change. It’s just ‘bomb them until they’re less of a threat.'”

Yes, at some level there’s definitely a new “axis of evil” in the minds – or what purports to be the minds – of the US and Israeli leadership, Sharon, including Venezuela, Cuba and Iran, and, of course, the China connection. Russia, however, is being studiously ignored by Trump. For Israel, however, this “axis” also includes Lebanon, and they clearly also have deranged designs on Turkey, while the US still has almost the whole of central and south America in its sights.
Two days ago, Trump convened the inaugural “Shield of the Americas” summit in South Florida, at which he urged the 12 countries attending to deal with drug cartels via military action, rather than law enforcement, drawing on what he evidently regard as the “robust” action the US has been taking since September, when, with startling illegality, at least 44 lethal attacks on boats in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific, killing nearly 150 people. As Al Jazeera explained, in an understated manner, “The victims’ identities have never been publicly confirmed, nor has evidence been publicly released to justify the deadly strikes.”
In a speech predictably full of rambling nonsense, Trump said, “Leaders in this region have allowed large swaths of territory, the Western Hemisphere, to come under the direct control” of the cartels, adding, “Transnational gangs have taken over, and they’ve run areas of your country. We’re not going to let that happen.” He also claimed, “Some of you are in danger. I mean, you’re actually in danger. It’s hard to believe.”
Alarmingly, he also offered to directly deploy the US military in attacks. “We’ll use missiles”, he said. “If you want us to use a missile, they’re extremely accurate — pew! — right into the living room, and that’s the end of that cartel person.” He added, “A lot of countries don’t want to do that. They say, ‘Oh, sure. I’d rather not have that. I’d rather not have it. I believe they could be spoken to.’ I don’t think so.”
He also reserved particular criticism for Mexico, which, he said, is “the epicentre of cartel violence”, and added, “The Mexican cartels are fueling and orchestrating much of the bloodshed and chaos in this hemisphere, and the United States government will do whatever’s necessary to defend our national security.”
Mexico, Colombia and Brazil, noticeably, did not attend the summit, along with Canada and Venezuela, and are all regarded with varying degrees of suspicion or outright aggression by Trump, whose alarming vision for the entire region is for its countries to be led by vile authoritarians, like Nayib Bukele of El Salvador, and Javier Milei of Argentina, who attended alongside representatives of Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay and Trinidad and Tobago.

Good to hear from you, Judith, and thanks for mentioning the ecocidal horrors of Kuwait’s oil fires in 1991, which I was reminded of when I saw the aftermath of the Israeli strikes on Iran’s oil refineries, and which will evidently have repercussions on the health of Tehran’s people for years or decades to come.
Ecocide is also, of course, a key component of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, and yet, for the most part, the mainstream media ignore or skirt over the ecocidal aspects of military action, and how, even apart from its deadly localized impacts, it is a major contributor to the wider global nightmare of ever-accelerating climate collapse.
We really are led by monsters whose hatred of life itself, in every way imaginable, is so horrific that it’s almost beyond comprehension.
