At yesterday's SIAC hearing, Mr Justice Mitting announced their decision to uphold the revocation of U's bail -the Home Office had applied for- on the basis of the open evidence.

More details about the day at http://gizmonaut.net/blog/uk/2009/12/siac_visit_u_remains_in_jail.html

Jack's story isn't new to me but since writing, time has moved on and I want to add to it. Jack continued his support and made regular and exhausting long trips by bus and train to Long Lartin to visit U along with many other Brighton people who refused to be deterred by the actions of the dark forces. I am certain that U will never forget these exceptional friends who opened their door and hearts to a man suspected of terrorism.
When you read Jack's account, it is very uplifting to realise what good there is in this country. It raises my hopes that others will take the time to consider that, if this elderly Brighton academic's life was enhanced by the company of U, despite the intrusive nature of the Home Office into his home and in to his life, how many others would do the same.
I remember reading an article that U wrote many years ago for a prison magazine called "The Kindness of Strangers". Surely Jack will be top of U's list now.
Thanks for sharing Jack's story with us, Andy.
