The Muslims in the world are not the barbarians, except for a tiny minority. The Western powers are neither more nor less civilised. It is always individuals who determine if an action will be civilised or sink to barbarism, like tearing fingernails from a man's hand. Those individuals may direct others to be cruel, but each of us makes the choice on our own. Clearly, the deep secrecy behind which these people have been tortured and even murdered was put up out of cowardliness, a fear of justice. Those sick individuals who ordered torture know from history what a poor tool it is for obtaining truth, but it is an excellent game for a psychotic mind protected by high office and official secrecy. Eventually we in the West must decide to either live as modern, law abiding members of a civilised world, or admit to our own bloodlust and cruelty.
