So Cheney thinks that torture-extracted confessions are true?
He should be waterboarded until he is prepared to sign and swear on oath and on video that he personally:
a) poisoned Napoleon.
b) stabbed Julius Caesar
and
c) crucified Jesus Christ.

And if he doesn’t do it honestly and sincerely, waterboard him again!

“I can only wonder what genuinely useful information he might have provided had the FBI, which was initially involved in his questioning, been allowed to continue interrogating him without the use of torture.”

It bears repeating.

This is precisely what President Obama so elegantly reminded the Washington press corps the other night, in so many words. My simultaneous translation?:

“If you don’t ask the right questions, we will not get the benefit of the informative answers, and will all suffer the consequences of our ignorance. You are not exempt from that suffering.”

I also distinctly heard him say (again my translation): “It’s not too late to make it right, or righter. We can never bring our 4,294 American soldiers back from death. Bush and Cheney set those terrible wheels in motion and those lives are lost to us for all time. But we can prevent the next one, and the next one, and the next. I’ve bared my chest; Michelle’s bared her arms; what veneer will you strip away for your country? Won’t you at least show us what you can do with your most capable hands?”

And they did. They clapped. For him and for themselves too. For the very good, no, make that excellent, job they are about to do.
