I just finished reading the fine discussion at FDL, Andy, and I'm sorry I wasn't able to join in yesterday. I'm a Canadian with a particular interest in Omar Khadr's case, but I'm just so impressed with the work you have done for all the detainees, and I'm very glad to find your site.

On the subject of moving all the GTMO detainees back to the U.S.: I think I've seen Mukasey forced to discuss this topic at least twice at SJC hearings, and you can tell, even through his remarkable evasions, that what is bothering him is that he knows that -- some? many? -- of the detainees, if given real trials in the U.S., would be acquitted and then ... freed on to the streets of the U.S.? You can almost see his lip curl as he contemplates that possibility. Underlying so much of what has been done so incompetently (and cruelly, of course) is a terrible xenophobia that is palpable when you watch someone like Mukasey.

Thank you for all you do.

I won't be able to follow this as I only get access to the web in public places like libraries and cyber cafes, which are not open as late as 10pm. But I would like to wish you luck with the discussion and hope it is a lively one! I follow your website and am impressed with your campaigning work.
